J&J Case Competition: Winning Team Moves on to Finals

On March 1, two student teams competed for the opportunity to represent the TCNJ School of Business at the annual Johnson & Johnson University Case Competition on April 7 at Johnson & Johnson headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Patrick, Dr. Sorokina, Dr. Tang, and two Johnson & Johnson representatives served as competition judges. The students were judged on business rationale and strategy consistency, quality of their financial analysis and business plan, quality and professionalism of their presentation, and quality of their SWOT risk analysis.

The winning team developed a new insulin pump for diabetics in addition to new marketing and selling strategies for the device. The team, shown below, includes:

Rodrigo Almeida, sophomore, finance; Neil Desai, sophomore, accounting; Erika Hausheer, sophomore, finance; Elizabeth Hom, sophomore, marketing; Jason Kwon, sophomore, marketing; Shilan Shah, junior, accounting; Dennis Tuohy, sophomore, political science/economics.

“Our team presented a comprehensive strategy to corporate leadership including detailed financial metrics, SWOT analysis, and methods of marketing in order to increase market share,” said Hausheer.
