Brittany Mashel is a marketing major with minors in Graphic Design and Philosophy, who interned in the summer of 2016 with New York Stage and Film, a “not-for-profit company dedicated to both emerging and established artists in the development and production of new works for theater and film.” This was the 32nd summer that New York Stage and Film partnered with Vassar College to produce the Powerhouse Theater season. Brittany worked as a Producing/Marketing Intern to help produce and promote the season, which consisted of over 20 new works – fully-produced plays, musical workshops, readings of works-in-progress and more – presented over 6 weeks. Some of the established and acclaimed artists of the 2016 Powerhouse season included Bill Pullman (Spaceballs, Independence Day), Santino Fontana (Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Frozen, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother), and performance artist Taylor Mac. Many works leave the Powerhouse season to go on to greater recognition, including 2016 Tony-nominated and Tony-winning productions Bright Star, The Humans, and the groundbreaking Hamilton.
This was Brittany’s second professional theatre internship – she worked as a Marketing Intern for Premiere Stages, an equity company out of Kean University, in Summer 2015. In her three years at TCNJ, she has served as the Vice President of Marketing for Pi Sigma Epsilon, the Publicist for TCNJ Musical Theatre, and is now the Vice President of Communications for Beta Gamma Sigma. She spent a semester abroad in Heidelberg, Germany and is currently the Marketing Intern in the Center for Global Engagement.
