Finance Student Wins CFA Scholarships

Finance major Patrick Tillinghast ’22 participated in the annual CFA Institute Research Challenge. The Challenge is a global competition that tests the equity research and valuation, investment report writing, and presentation skills of university students. This annual educational initiative promotes best practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills.

This year, Tillinghast was a recipient of the Heloise Ham Scholarship and co-recipient of the Distinguished Scholar Award, awarded by the Graham Center at CFA Society New York, CFA’s highest honor.

“The experience was very eye-opening and I adopted a new-found respect for investment professionals that I was ignorant of before this challenge,” said Tillinghast. “The incredible amount of due diligence required is the great filter to who can be successful in this industry. Condensing months of research into a 10-page paper was tough, but working alongside my four teammates and Dr. Hume made the entire experience very worthwhile.”
