RBI National Sales Challenge

RBI National Sales Challenge

RBI

Two TCNJ business students did very well at the RBI National Sales Challenge, held at William Paterson University, on November 9-10, 2011. Adam Schumer, senior marketing major, won 2nd place in the “Speed Sell” competition, where students gave “elevator speeches” selling themselves to recruiters at the competition. Kaitlynn Zolnay, junior interdisciplinary business major, took 4th place. Fifty six students from twenty three universities participated in the competition.

In addition to the “Speed Sell” competition, students also participated in a sales role play competition. Students acted as salespeople for Automatic Data Processing selling payroll services to a sales executive, acting as a president of a small manufacturing firm. Adam tied for 18th in the role play competition and Kaitlynn tied for 27th. With ties there were 44 ranks among the 56 competitors. Adam’s overall rank in the two competitions was 7th and Kaitlynn’s rank was 16th of 44 ranks. TCNJ’s team rank was 6th of the 23 schools, beating schools with much larger sales programs like Toledo, Florida State, Baylor, Ball State, Indianan, Purdue, Temple, Kennesaw State, and Minnesota State.

Students at the competition also participated in the career fair. Employers included Reynolds and Reynolds, ADP, Johnson & Johnson, EMC, Hess Petroleum, Vitraulic, Paycom, and Reckett-Benkisser.
