Laura Guarraci ’08 is currently living and working in Amsterdam, the Netherlands as Senior Reporting Manager for Viacom International Media Networks. She earned her CPA license in 2010 and a master’s degree in media management in 2014. “Working abroad is an irreplaceable personal and professional experience,” said Guarraci. That said, I’m always meeting new people and thinking about how my career can fit my life, not the other way around!”
Guarraci graduated from TCNJ during the country’s recession but was fortunate enough to have a job offer early in her senior year. She credits the School of Business with helping her develop the strong connections and skills needed in the professional world.
Laura Guarraci’s advice to current students:
During college, you may feel comfortable that you’re following a path laid out for you, but most of you will realize when you go into the workforce that you don’t really know what you want to do or what your career values are. Assess your values, think about what will give you a sense of accomplishment, learn everything you can about that, and bravely, relentlessly pursue it. There are tons of opportunities to do things that you have no idea exist right now. When you’re working toward something, other amazing things will present themselves to you. Start a project, have interests, travel somewhere, and have ideas.
For future fellow CPAs, no one wants to talk to an accountant at a party, so work on your sense of humor!
