Michell Lin is part of TCNJ’s inaugural MBA graduating class. Lin chose to specialize in data analytics, which led to her current role as a sales consultant with CareJourney, a healthcare technology company in Washington, D.C. “During my interview, I was able to talk about the projects from my data analytics courses. “It was more than knowing how to code, wrangle data, or build models – It was demonstrating the ability to transform the technical components into actionable business propositions,” said Lin.
While having to start a new job during the pandemic was not ideal, Lin cites the experience as an opportunity to grow skill sets. “It’s not ideal, but the experience has made me a professional who is better equipped to deal with challenges, especially technical ones. This is crucial as so many companies are talking about the ‘new work environment post-COVID-19’ right now.”
Lin thinks that students should also continue to adapt and continue to make connections. “I know ‘networking’ can be a dreaded word to some, but it doesn’t have to be,” said Lin. “Re-define networking to what feels natural to who you are.”
In her spare time Lin enjoys cooking and dining out. “As restaurants are starting to open back up, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the food scene of D.C. – but I do not expect to find pizza in this city that will top NJ’s!”
