Soniya Reddy, of Tinton Falls, graduated with a degree in finance in 2018. She is now a budget analyst for the National Guard Training Center (NGTC) in Sea Girt. There she keeps track of expenses for the lodging facility housing soldiers and airmen of the NJ Army National Guard. “Throughout my time at TCNJ, not only have I learned how to analyze financial statements and manipulate data in Excel spreadsheets, but I also learned the importance of dedication, communication, teamwork, planning and preparation, and commitment, all of which are essential to succeed in my current role as a budget analyst,” said Reddy.
Working for the government has been a dream for Reddy who was fortunate enough to be hired in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Even though it may seem like this outbreak is hurting the majority of us financially and emotionally, we shouldn’t let this stop us from chasing our dreams and passions. Don’t pay too much attention to the media when they say that thousands of jobs are being cut and that millions of people are struggling on unemployment,” said Reddy. “This can be your time to shine and to land the new opportunity that you’ll love. Just don’t stop what you are doing, but instead keep learning new skills, networking, and finding your dream job, because who knows when the unexpected will occur.”
When not working, Reddy enjoys reading, music, and enjoying the summer weather outdoors.
