Danielle (Castillo) Kane is co-owner and director of operations of Evolution Fitness Now, LLC, based in Cherry Hill, NJ. She graduated from TCNJ in 2004 with a degree in business management. Danielle co-founded Evolution Fitness in 2011, from conception to implementation. She is responsible for the overall operation of the facility, including staff management, budget management and planning, membership acquisition and retention, and overseeing weekly marketing plans and business initiatives. “Innately, I felt as if I would be a good manager,” said Danielle as she explained her college/career path. “I had to change my mindset to become the ‘business owner’.” Danielle admitted that the choice to become a business owner was not without reservation, but that in the end, it was “the most liberating experience” to conquer her fear and open Evolution Fitness.
Danielle urges those students interesting in owning their own business to get experience working for someone else. Knowing how a business works from the ground up is key to running your own. She also advises students to start educating themselves on business ownership now and to prepare themselves for the inherent risks involved in starting a business.
Aside from running Evolution Fitness, Danielle loves coaching. She always finds time to coach a few sessions, which allows her to not only have some fun, but also get to know her clients. Also, for the past 7 years Danielle has been the assistant coach for the Haddonfield High School lacrosse team where, much like her clients, she gets to watch the players advance in skill and sportsmanship from freshman to senior year.
